QotD: Better than the original?
Ok. I'm not over this QOTD yet and I have no idea where my baby pictures are. And since I'm not nearly as cute as Byrne, Lillia or Andrew, I think I'm going to stick to the music question for the time being.
First up: The English Beat's cover of "Tears of a Clown." I found a video of it on YouTube. Next is the Pretenders' cover of "Thin Line between Love and Hate" that I think more than rivals the original version. Last of this set: Annie Lennox's "Waiting in Vain." It's very different from the Marley version, which I also love.

I agree, English Beat's Tears of a Clown is one of those rare super excellent covers. It is as least as good as the original, and that is saying A LOT for this song...
And you've gotta give Smokey his props for finding a way to include "Pagliocci" in an R&B song.
These are great covers - I guess nobody else is old enough to remember the hands-down greatest cover ever and for all of eternity, namely Roberta Flack's version of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.... yep, it was originally done in 1963 by two guys even I'M not old enough to remember.
